Impressions from our debut with ‚A Postcard from Impressions from our debut with ‚A Postcard from Graz’ After a brief city stroll, with lots of interesting facts and stories about the surrounding area and buildings, we settled to to sketch and get creative on our postcards. On the first photo you see Ruth from @discovergraz.at herself trying urban sketching for the first time 😁 We had such a fun time and were glad everyone enjoyed the vibe. The kids were especially creative and we loved having them! Lucky @paulundbohne were just next door were we could get our daily coffee fix 🙃 D/ Impressionen von unserem ‚A postcard from Graz‘ Debüt. Zuerst gab es einen kurzen Stadtspaziergang mit vielen interessante Fakten und Geschichten, über die uns umgebenden Gebäude und das Stadtviertel. Danach haben wir uns gemütlich zum skizzieren niedergelassen und unsere Postkartengestaltet. To all fellow travelers and surfers out there: I t To all fellow travelers and surfers out there: I think today’s #worldearthday is a good moment to share some thoughts and hear your opinions. I find myself very often in between two realities. ‘We surfers’ claim to be so big on sustainability and yes, we do admire nature and yes, we do our little bit in every day life (avoiding single-use plastic, buying secondhand, eating local food, beach cleanups etc) But in the end just one return flight to our next surf destination produces so much CO2 that we hardly count into the sustainable category anymore. I’ve realised that a long time ago but still haven’t found a solution. Here’s the situation and I’m sure everyone of you has a personal version of this: My home country (🇦🇹)doesn’t have an ocean and even river waves require a bit of traveling (that will hopefully change in near future (@wellefueralle 😉). Yes I could live in a place with waves (and will again 🌊) but let’s be honest: Even the lucky one’s with a wave right in front of their house enjoy a surf trip to an exotic destination once in a while. So I’m thinking how do we justify that? In the end surfing is just a hobby right? I know, many will say they ‚need’ it to be happy or that it is a ‚lifestyle‘ and I like to tell myself the same. But is this really an excuse? What other arguments are there. How can we compare it to other hobbies and sports. And does it make it better to compare it after all, the emissions are all the same… What comes to your mind reading this? Have you ever thought about this and what’s your opinion? 🌏💙 Can surfers justify their CO2 intense travel to be able to surf? And really the same applies to all kinds of travel in the end, especially when ‘hopping’ somewhere for just a week/end. I really appreciate it 💛 Also I‘d like to introduce myself to the new faces here 👋🏼 Since this year I‘m a self employed illustrator, after graduating as an Architect in Graz, Austria. I work mostly analog with pen and watercolour on paper and also like to paint walls, skateboards and surfboards. At the moment my focus is on children’s book illustrations where I want to spread my knowledge of sustainable architecture. I‘m also the founder of ‚Always On The Move’ a label created out of my passion for surfing and skating in 2018. This means you will also find many surf and ocean themed paintings in my feed as well as sketches created while traveling. This might seem like a wild mix of different interests but all my work circles around the love for nature - to showcase her beauty and to show how we can take better are of our environment. There used to be a river wave but due to the construction of a power plant it is not working anymore. The city of Graz was going to build a river wave and a Kayak run on the river Mur and had plans to finish the wave in 2021. But where is the wave? Our wedding stationery 🌹🌿 Of course I wante Our wedding stationery 🌹🌿 Of course I wanted to do the design myself and of course it had to be surf themed, even though we celebrated in Austria😬 I just enjoy thinking of all the little details for cards, name tags etc and make them match nicely. We collected the olive branches on our holiday in Croatia this summer and the rose hips were from a friends garden. 100% better than from the shop 😍 Had lots of fun shaping those tiny sugar surfboards as well and really happy how they turned out. Thank you @mehlspeisenfraeulein for the delicious cake 😍 The coasters were on the table for each guest to take home as a little memory. What do you think? ☺️ After this was so enjoyable I can really imagine doing wedding stationery for clients! We started with „Arnie“ and the famous „Uhrturm“ and have now added some more motifs to make a full set. It‘s the first time I‘ve had my drawings printed on temporary tattoos and I honestly think it’s pretty cool 😎 You can grab them from a few stores in Graz —> @meigraz @visitgraz Also if you ever need a tour guide who knows interesting places and stories off the main tourist attractions I highly recommend Ruth and her team from @discovergraz.at 😊
Today I went back to see the We 🖤 Illustration Today I went back to see the We 🖤 Illustration exhibition in daylight. Not only did I get to take some photos with better light but I discovered even more illustrators and their work! Its just so cool to see the variety! I went with @anjagrohmann_illustration and had some really nice chats in the sun afterwards ☀️ What a nice 1st october!
I have had this new idea recently, to offer a ‚S I have had this new idea recently, to offer a ‚Sketch The City Tour‘ 💡 Sketching outdoors is one of my favourite activities, while I used to mostly do it when traveling, I have started to sit down in my hometown more often. The Grieskram festival last Saturday was a perfect opportunity for it and I really enjoyed it! Would anyone be interested to join for a walk through town and learn how to sketch? Or do you know someone who‘d love to do something like this? Would love to hear from you in the comments 😊👇🏼
